SHERIFF'S COUNT DEPUTY SHERIFF AND COUNTY ATTORNEY GIVES NOTICE... SMUGGLE, GET CAUGHT, GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL ARIZONA Thursday February 24, 2022 - For Immediate Release- Bisbee All public safety agencies within Cochise County are negatively impacted with the significant number of "smuggling" vehicles coming into our communities to pick up illegal immigrants and illicit drugs. The estimate by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office is between 900 and 1000 vehicles per month coming to pick-up their illegal cargo before attempting to escape back to larger metropolitan areas to deliver and get paid by Criminal Cartel members. The public safety challenges include the number of out of county vehicles coming here for illicit activities, the "cargo" being primarily humans, and the "escape" being made via high-speed failure to yield scenarios which result in imminent threat to law enforcement and our citizens, and in more recent cases, death. These activities are encouraged and recruited via advertisements on social media and directed towards those who are looking to make "quick cash" on the backs of communities. Sheriff Mark Dannels and Cochise County Attorney Brian Mclntyre, working collectively with our public safety partners at all levels, are immediately giving notice that anyone who comes to our county in an effort to participate in criminal behavior will be arrested and booked into our detention facilities until prosecuted by the County Attorney under authorities and rule of law. The "Rule of Law" in support of the Safety and Quality of Life will be paramount in this effort to prevent and protect the good people of this county from those who choose to ignore our laws and place our citizens and guests in harm's way. # # # The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is committed to provide professional, high quality and effective law enforcement and correctional services in partnership with the community. We are committed to the protection of life and property: the preservation of peace, order, and safety; the vigorous enforcement of local and State laws; and the defense of the Constitution of the United States of American in a fair and impartial manner.
