Families do need help in these circumstances and here are ways to let other people take some of the burdens away: Ask someone to keep a list of phone calls and visi- tors and to keep track of telegrams, cards, letters, food, flowers, or other re- membrances. You may also want someone else to answer the phone and the door. Visitors can be asked to sign a guest book. You will want to know who vis- ited you at home in order to acknowledge their kindness later. As family and friends gather, it will help if you have someone coordinat- ing meals or other eating arrangements. If children will be present, arrange for infant care and for someone to watch toddlers.
