Comparing the Toyota Tacoma and the Tundra

When it’s time to buy a new truck, there are a few things that are must-haves for every driver: power, dependability, and safety. You’ll get all of these things when you choose either the Toyota Tacoma or the Tundra. Both of these 2019 models are top of the line, but there are a few differences between them that you’ll want to consider before you make your final decision.

Performance

Both the Tacoma and Tundra are available with two different engine choices. The 2019 Tundra is available with a 4.6-liter V8, which has 310 horsepower and 327 lb.-ft. of torque. If you’re looking for more power, you could choose the 5.7-liter V8, with 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2019 Tacoma comes equipped with a 2.7-liter four cylinder engine with 159 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque. If you want a power upgrade, you could choose the 3.5-liter V6, with 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Tundra is the truck of choice for drivers who need more towing and payload capacity. Both models have trailer sway control for towing, but the Tundra has an integrated trailer brake controller.

Exterior

The 2019 Tundra and Tacoma have a similar, rugged design. Both have two cab sizes available. The 2019 Tacoma is available with an Access Cab, which has a rear-hinged half door, or the Double Cab, which has four full-size doors. The Access Cab version comes with a six-foot bed. The Double Cab can have either a six-foot or five-foot bed.
